THE CHALLENGE
Our team was entrusted with the responsibility of designing, procuring, and deploying the server and network infrastructure for Enough Food’s latest flagship zero emission factory in Holland, dedicated to producing ABUNDA. With a tight timeline of one month, we had to ensure fast, seamless, and secure communication between all sections of production while meeting the client’s technical requirements.
To achieve this, our team meticulously assessed the client’s needs and conducted a thorough evaluation to determine the most suitable servers, switching, routing, and security protocols. We recognized the importance of efficiency in our approach and worked tirelessly to deliver a seamless infrastructure within the designated timeframe.
SOLUTION
The project was not a traditional network installation, and as such, we had to liaise with vendors providing software and automation equipment to ensure that all sections of the plant could communicate securely. Our team then designed a solution that met the client’s scope of work, procured servers, switches, routers, and firewalls, and had them shipped to the plant within the required timeframe.
One of the key decisions we made during the project was to separate networks with VLANs. VLANs, allowed us to segment the network into smaller subnetworks, making it more secure and manageable. By separating the various server, device and equipment networks using VLANs, we were able to limit the potential impact of any security breaches or network failures, as well as provide easier management and troubleshooting of the network. This decision ensured that the client had a secure and organized network environment.
To complete the project, our team flew out to Holland to configure everything onsite. This included configuring and segregating the various servers and networks, configuring inter-vlan routing, VPNs, and remote access. By doing this onsite, we were able to ensure that everything was set up correctly and functioning properly before leaving the plant. This also allowed for any issues or problems to be addressed in real-time, ensuring a smooth and successful deployment.
Summary
Our team successfully designed and deployed a reliable and secure IT infrastructure in a short lead time, aligned with the client’s technical needs, and ensured seamless communication between all sections of the factory. The client can now operate efficiently with an organized and secure network environment.
